The LP Hoying, LLC HCS-ORN Sidewalk Solar was designed for use in metropolitan areas for gas distribution and utility system protection where up to an amp of current is needed. The solar panel is well protected against vandalism and theft.
The spacious NEMA 3R enclosure houses the battery and control. It has two doors with three-point latch and locking hasp. The enclosure provides adequate room for a large battery as well as test equipment.
Continuous potentiometer adjustment and solid-state circuitry are provided for fine current control. All functions are engraved into the instrument panel. Continuous reading voltmeter and ammeter are standard. Compression lugs are provided for battery, solar, and load connections.

HCS-ORN Sidewalk Solar is available as:

Reduced Energy during the Nighttime (REN). This supply is designed to provide 100% of the daytime current rating during daytime solar energy periods and 1/2 the daytime current setting to the groundbed at night.

Constant Voltage Output with continuous output adjustment capabilities. This unit provides the set output 24 hours a day.

The charge regulator/output controller features load drop and temperature compensation.
The battery provided is a 12-volt nicad battery with a minimum of 48 hours autonomy or a 12-volt lead acid battery with a minimum of 100 hours autonomy.
The enclosure is approximately 48 inches tall by 36 inches wide by 16 inches deep. Heavy-duty steel channel is provided for base mounting. The two-door enclosure includes screened louvers for ventilation.
The solar panel is a multicrystaline type with efficiency of over 14%. It is completely surrounded by the metal support, giving no external access. The solar panel is protected from vandalism by a 1/4-inch thick lexan window that covers the entire panel surface.
